Jews lived in Traiskirchen during the first half of the 14th century. Smeril, mentioned in 1329, was a moneylender. During 1385 and 1421 about ten Jewish men from Traiskirchen were documented, not all of them actually residing there. Some Jews at this time engaged in moneylending, mostly to Viennese burghers. In one case the Jewish bath was pawned by its temporary Christian owner. Two Judenrichter (Judge of the Jews) were known in 1351 and 1415. Around 1400 Jews were arrested in Traiskirchen and Moedling and then were brought to Wiener Neustadt.
