The town ordinances and privileges of mid-13th century Sankt Veit an der Glan include some paragraphs concerning Jews, which hint that some Jews were living there, but only from the mid-14th century is more information available about them.
Jews usually gave were active as moneylenders of small loans to local noble families and in the 15th century served mostly as collectors of debts. The Jews lived in the Judengasse, today Braeuhausgasse. A synagogue existed in Sankt Veit an der Glan by the15th century. The Jews were expelled from Sankt Veit an der Glan in 1496.
