Jews lived in Perchtoldsdorf during the 14th century and in smaller numbers in 15th century as well. In today’s Wienerstrasse (Wienerstreet) there are two “houses of the Jews” and the “Judenschuel”, the synagogue.
The main source of income was moneylending, mainly to Viennese burghers. The Viennese Judenmeister (representative of the Jewish community), Musch von Pertcholdsdorf, lived in 1323 both in Perchtoldsdorf and in Vienna. There was a Judenrichter (Judge of the Jews). The Jews were expelled from Perchtoldsdorf in the persecutions of 1421.
