Jews settled in Mödling before 1350. The synagogue was in the “Judengasse” (today Elisabethstrasse 7). Jews were active as moneylenders; most of the clients were from Vienna. Eisak of Mödling, son of Muschlein of Perchtoldsdorf, lived in Mödling before 1350. The woman Rädel who sold a vineyard next to Mödling to a monastery in Vienna, lived here.
In 1420 the Jews from Mödling suffered from persecution and expulsion; several Jewish women seem to have committed suicide. One Jew moved to Wiener Neustadt. Rabbi Israel Isserlein mentions Mose Mödling, author of rules concerning Jewish religious ritual.
