The first Jewish families moved to Gross Enzersdorf around 1860, and the Jewish community was founded in 1898. In 1932 there were 221 Jewish inhabitants in Gross Enzersdorf. The community maintained several institutions, the synagogue was established in 1865 along with a cemetery. The community also supported Maccabi, a Jewish sport organization.
Among the rabbis of the community were Dr. Albert Schweiger from Mödling, Dr. M. Rosenmann from Floridsdorf, and Dr. Funk from Wien-Leopoldstadt who undertook rabbinical functions. Adolf Kritner was a teacher of religion and cantor.
