The presence of the first Jews in Bruck an der Mur dates back to 1327, when a Jew named Gerssam sold a house in Bruck, which he inherited from his father, to the monastery Rein. It is not clear from the documents whether Gerssam lived in Bruck or in Graz. In 1352 Jews from Bruck an der Mur lived in two houses in Grazer Street.
Meisterlein from Wiener Neustat lived in Bruck an der Mur during 1467-1478; he was a moneylender and worked for the Emperor Friedrich III, who granted him a letter of protection.
